Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring reactions on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an better serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet saved four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
