The EU might “respond swiftly and decisively” in response to what it calls “unjustified” travel bans issued by the US against five European individuals involved in combating digital hatred and disinformation, a European Commission spokesperson stated.

EU Officials Decry US Move as ‘Intimidation’

Officials from Europe including the French president charged Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, following the visa restrictions were placed on figures that were central to efforts to enact laws governing US-based technology firms.

“For too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded coordinated campaigns to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” wrote a senior US official in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”
